About the Vfd display PCB

Vfd display is an open source PCB design by eshazen, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 200 × 65 mm, with 44 components from 17 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the IV-6, HV5812, LM1084-ADJ, 74LS125 and 74LS174. By type, the board carries 20 ICs, 12 capacitors, 7 resistors, 3 connectors and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the displays & leds and retro computing designs in this gallery.

This is branch "ScopeClock". Building up another CPU board for used as a general purpose computer for the scope clock, along with the DAC/Interface board from that project, which (whew!) has an actual UART for the serial port.

Time for something new! The VFD HP-25 is cool and all, but I've lusted after an HP-97 most of my life, plus I love nixie tubes! Starting to think about a nixie-display HP-97 emulator. Probably no card reader, but a small printer is certainly doable. Inspiration from Oliver De Smet (archived elswhere in this repository just in case):

Vfd display: common questions

How big is the Vfd display PCB?

The Vfd display measures 200 × 65 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Vfd display?

44 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Vfd display design files?

From the eshazen/retro-25 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Vfd display design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eshazen. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
