About the Custom Hackboard PCB

Custom Hackboard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by FabioCastroMorffi, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 124.6 × 130.5 mm, with 39 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the PJ-320A. By type, the board carries 18 switches, 18 diodes, 1 IC, 1 module and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Raw Split is a wired 36 key split keyboard made with 3 PCB layers and powered by an RP pico 2040 on each side. I'm using the Miryoku ZMK as the layout and I decided to go for a smaller split keyboard for two main reasons: I want it to be portable, mainly so I can use it in class, and I wanted to be under (or very close to) the 50$ mark.

I had an initial idea with a Split Keyboard that would have magnetic sides but I wasn't proud of the design I came up with (and it wasnt printable) so I decided to scrap it up and do it again with a different idea. The change was mainly on the fact that I…

Custom Hackboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Custom Hackboard use?

The Custom Hackboard is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Custom Hackboard PCB?

The Custom Hackboard measures 124.6 × 130.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Custom Hackboard?

39 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Custom Hackboard design files?

From the FabioCastroMorffi/Raw-Split repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Custom Hackboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with FabioCastroMorffi. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Custom Hackboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
