About the Fire-32-b2 PCB

Fire-32-b2 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by fezzo2003, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 18.6 × 41.7 mm, with 50 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2354B, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the AP2112K-3.3, USBLC6-2P6 and W25Q16JVSS. By type, the board carries 23 capacitors, 12 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 diodes and 1 crystal.

From the project

A variant of the 32 pin version. Adds native support for the SST39SF040, while retaining all existing ROM support.

A variant of the 32 pin version. Adds native support for the SST39SF040, while retaining all existing ROM support.

Has components on both sides of the board.

Changes from fire-32-a: - Adds a neo-pixel LED, GPIO 44, alongside the status LED at GPIO 45. - Address and CS pins have been laid out differently to allow SST39SF040 to be served without using a shim. Alo allows more efficient use of flash for most image types.

Fire-32-b2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Fire-32-b2 use?

The Fire-32-b2 is built around the RP2354B, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Fire-32-b2 PCB?

The Fire-32-b2 measures 18.6 × 41.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Fire-32-b2?

50 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Fire-32-b2 design files?

From the fezzo2003/onerom-honda repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Fire-32-b2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which fezzo2003 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Fire-32-b2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
