About the Wacca Touch Panel PCB

Wacca Touch Panel is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by FizzyApple12, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 254.9 × 231.1 mm, with 101 components from 43 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q16JVUXIQ TR, AT42QT2120-MMHR and NCP1117-3.3_SOT223. By type, the board carries 42 diodes, 23 connectors, 19 capacitors, 8 resistors, 5 ICs and 3 switches.

From the project

A repository for all of the files in my design for an open-source touch ring controller.

This repo is right now still a work in progress, nothing has been finalized and things will probably be broken, stay tuned as things are finalized though!

If you'd like to test out the current firmware on your own hardware, there are 2 github actions scripts for the Touch Panel firmware and the Protocol Translator firmware

The 6 Touch Panel firmware builds correspond to which position you want the Touch Panel to be in (1 being top, 6 being bottom)

Wacca Touch Panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wacca Touch Panel use?

The Wacca Touch Panel is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Wacca Touch Panel PCB?

The Wacca Touch Panel measures 254.9 × 231.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wacca Touch Panel?

101 components, from 43 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wacca Touch Panel design files?

From the FizzyApple12/Waccon repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wacca Touch Panel design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with FizzyApple12. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Wacca Touch Panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
