About the FrankDevBoard PCB

FrankDevBoard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by FrankTheTank32, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 44.4 × 54.2 mm, with 46 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the BMI160, W25Q128JVS and MCP1700x-330xxTT. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 9 resistors, 8 diodes, 4 ICs, 4 connectors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

This PCB is the perfect DevBoard for anyone you know who's name is Frank and loves electronics

This respository includes the bill of materials (BOM), GRBR and DRL files for PCB manufacturing and specifications, as well as the entire project folder itself for importing into KiCAD.

The DevBoard is comprised of an RP2040 microcontroller, lights, 43 pins total, an IMU, and a nice silkscreen design. It resembles the shape of an "F" after the name frame, and has the meming frog, as that also starts with an "F". This development board is extremely useful if you're looking to have a highly functional (and highly energetic) microcontroller electronics maker experience.

FrankDevBoard: common questions

What microcontroller does the FrankDevBoard use?

The FrankDevBoard is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the FrankDevBoard PCB?

The FrankDevBoard measures 44.4 × 54.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FrankDevBoard?

46 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FrankDevBoard design files?

From the FrankTheTank32/FrankDevBoard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FrankDevBoard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with FrankTheTank32. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the FrankDevBoard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
