About the Lokkkarten Emulator PCB

Lokkkarten Emulator is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by GBert, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 54 mm, with 50 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the FM24CL64B, BL1551B, AMS1117-3.3 and CP2102N-A02-GQFN24R. By type, the board carries 22 resistors, 12 capacitors, 7 ICs, 4 diodes, 3 transistors and 2 connectors.

From the project

Lokkkarten Emulator: common questions

What microcontroller does the Lokkkarten Emulator use?

The Lokkkarten Emulator is built around the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Lokkkarten Emulator PCB?

The Lokkkarten Emulator measures 100 × 54 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Lokkkarten Emulator?

50 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lokkkarten Emulator design files?

From the GBert/railroad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lokkkarten Emulator design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with GBert. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Lokkkarten Emulator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
