About the Econet standalone PCB

Econet standalone is an open source PCB design by google, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 48.5 × 48 mm, with 67 components from 30 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the Econet, C75561, LM319, XC9572XL and MCP1700T-3302E/MB. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 12 capacitors, 5 ICs and 1 jumper.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

Can we implement an Econet interface from scratch, without having to use a BBC Master Econet module or MC68B54 chip?

I've built one of these, and am working on the RTL and firmware.

This board will allow a computer with a USB port to communicate on an Econet network. A CPLD handles the wire protocol and a microcontroller handles framing and communicating with the attached computer.
