rp2040 based TKL keyboard, with C firmware, rotary encoder and OLED display

This repository contains the source code and documentation for the USB HID Keyboard Project, developed as part of the LABSI course. The project implements a custom mechanical keyboard with a PT-PT TKL (Tenkeyless) layout featuring 87 keys, an OLED display with a Bongo Cat typing animation, a rotary encoder for multimedia control, and an LED indicator to reflect device states.

TKL-KEYBOARD: common questions

What microcontroller does the TKL-KEYBOARD use?

The TKL-KEYBOARD is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the TKL-KEYBOARD PCB?

The TKL-KEYBOARD measures 373.5 × 124.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the TKL-KEYBOARD?

219 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the TKL-KEYBOARD design files?

From the Guilhermesscastro/TKL-KEYBOARD repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the TKL-KEYBOARD design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Guilhermesscastro. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the TKL-KEYBOARD without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
