About the Bear magotchi PCB
Bear magotchi is an open source ESP32 PCB design by heonaliu, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80.5 × 69.3 mm, with 7 components from 5 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-C3-SMD, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the HS96L03W2C03. By type, the board carries 3 switches, 2 ICs and 1 battery holder.
It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

A custom bear-style case tamagotchi. Made by 17 y/o Heona Liu. This was my first full on hardware project, so I'm pretty proud of myself. Every step was a learning process: from KiCad interface, PCB routing, OnShape building, to coding with Arduino IDE for firmware and designing a zine.
This tamagotchi has 3 stats: hunger, energy, and happiness! You can play around with the different levels by using the buttons, each mapped to different functions. This was built by following TaniWankenobi's tamagotchi PCB tutorial. All 4 faces on the bearmagotchi are custom drawn!

Bear magotchi: common questions
What microcontroller does the Bear magotchi use?
The Bear magotchi is built around the XIAO-ESP32-C3-SMD, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Bear magotchi PCB?
The Bear magotchi measures 80.5 × 69.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Bear magotchi?
7 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Bear magotchi design files?
From the heonaliu/bear-magotchi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Bear magotchi design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which heonaliu chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Bear magotchi without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
