From the project

Reverse engineering of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries X/Y Bus as used in FDUM air condition

This directory contains research and development files for reverse engineering the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) air conditioning X-Y bus communication protocol.

This project was never completed. The files are published in the hope that they may be useful to someone interested in the specifics of the MHI X-Y bus protocol. The protocol analysis is partially complete, and the hardware designs reached prototype stage but were not finalized.

Mhi xy bus: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mhi xy bus use?

The Mhi xy bus is built around the ATMEGA328-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Mhi xy bus PCB?

The Mhi xy bus measures 91.4 × 40.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mhi xy bus?

66 components, from 37 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mhi xy bus design files?

From the iblue/mhi-xy-bus repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mhi xy bus design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with iblue. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Mhi xy bus without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
