About the Nami PCB

Nami is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by jemdiggity, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 95 × 75 mm, with 54 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MDBT50Q-1MV2, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the TPS63900DSKR, OPA2333AID and W25Q128JVSIQ. By type, the board carries 23 resistors, 17 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 2 switches and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Nami: noncontact AC current sensing hardware with Thread connectivity

An editable KiCad 10 design for evaluating the SCT006 sensing chain and Thread/BLE operation. This is an unreleased bench prototype, not an outlet-installation or fabrication release. The board is 95 × 75 mm, deliberately larger than the eventual device. No physical hardware, firmware, battery-life test or enclosure validation has been completed.

Open nami.kicadpro in KiCad. The five-sheet schematic is nami.kicadsch; the routed two-layer PCB is nami.kicadpcb`. The parts are native editable KiCad symbols and footprints, not an image imported into the editor.

Nami: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nami use?

The Nami is built around the MDBT50Q-1MV2, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Nami PCB?

The Nami measures 95 × 75 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nami?

54 components, from 38 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nami design files?

From the jemdiggity/nami repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nami design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jemdiggity. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Nami without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
