About the EWS RevG PCB

EWS RevG is an open source ESP32 PCB design by jhbryan0817-del, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 91 × 124 mm, with 76 components from 76 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-DevKitC V4 WROOM, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMC3330DWER, ADS1115IDGSR, POLOLU_D24V10F5 and POLOLU_D24V50F5. By type, the board carries 33 resistors, 19 capacitors, 13 connectors, 6 ICs, 4 diodes and 1 jumper.

From the project

Historical files retained to document the PCB represented by the existing Rev G mechanical model. Use Rev H for current electronics, BOM, wiring and validation. No Rev G CAD or 3D file was changed in the Rev H iteration.

Rev G used one multiplexed ADS1115 for two isolated ranges, unconnected controller diagnostic inputs, and unprotected battery polarity. Its reports apply only to that saved revision. The old manufacturing files are not a current fabrication release. Detailed revision history remains in Git.

EWS RevG: common questions

What microcontroller does the EWS RevG use?

The EWS RevG is built around the ESP32-DevKitC V4 WROOM, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the EWS RevG PCB?

The EWS RevG measures 91 × 124 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 2 mm thick.

How many components are on the EWS RevG?

76 components, from 76 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the EWS RevG design files?

From the jhbryan0817-del/Energized_Water_Scan repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the EWS RevG design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jhbryan0817-del. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the EWS RevG without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
