Register names are now fixed, but there may be additions. Further documentation is coming, stay tuned. Please provide feedback, especially if you see a problem.

This project is a 5 by 10 cm printed circuit board and related firmware. The board mounts in the same box as the Hermes Lite 2. It mounts above the N2ADR filter board if one is installed. The filter board and the IO board are independent of each other. The PC running the SDR software sends the transmit frequency to the board. The microcontroller on the board then…

Hermes Lite2 IO Connector: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hermes Lite2 IO Connector use?

The Hermes Lite2 IO Connector is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Hermes Lite2 IO Connector PCB?

The Hermes Lite2 IO Connector measures 93 × 53.4 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hermes Lite2 IO Connector?

116 components, from 41 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hermes Lite2 IO Connector design files?

From the jimahlstrom/HL2IOBoard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hermes Lite2 IO Connector design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jimahlstrom. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Hermes Lite2 IO Connector without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
