About the Eeprom programmer PCB

Eeprom programmer is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by jkreucher, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 80 mm, with 19 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega8-16PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP2221AxP, 74HC595 and 28C256. By type, the board carries 5 ICs, 5 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools and retro computing designs in this gallery.

A EEPROM Programmer for my z80 stuff. Supported EEPROMS: 28C64, 28C256

I created this programmer for my personal Z80 project. Since commerical programmers are fairly expensive I created my own simple programmer. It is nothing fancy and just supports a single family of EEPROMs. It does not have support for a higher programming voltage and is limited for +5V EEPROMs.

This simple programmer supports following EEPROMs: - 28c64 (8k) - 28c256 (32k)

Eeprom programmer: common questions

What microcontroller does the Eeprom programmer use?

The Eeprom programmer is built around the ATmega8-16PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Eeprom programmer PCB?

The Eeprom programmer measures 80 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Eeprom programmer?

19 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Eeprom programmer design files?

From the jkreucher/eeprom-programmer repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Eeprom programmer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which jkreucher chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Eeprom programmer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
