About the Goat-Drone PCB

Goat-Drone is an open source ESP32 PCB design by joelmathewsssss, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 38 × 38 mm, with 24 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the GY-521. By type, the board carries 8 resistors, 6 diodes, 4 modules, 4 transistors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.

An esp32 powered drone.

An ESP32 Powered Drone, for Funsies It's a quadrocopter using 4 FPV drone motors to fly and mpu6050 as IMU. Will use the crazyflie drone control framework to connect to drone via wifi through phone app to control it.

Goat-Drone: common questions

What microcontroller does the Goat-Drone use?

The Goat-Drone is built around the XIAO-ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Goat-Drone PCB?

The Goat-Drone measures 38 × 38 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Goat-Drone?

24 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Goat-Drone design files?

From the joelmathewsssss/Goat-Drone repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Goat-Drone design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with joelmathewsssss. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Goat-Drone without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
