About the RFID Access PCB

RFID Access is an open source ESP32 PCB design by JONeillSr, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 110 × 80 mm, with 29 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-C6-DIP, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LD1117V33. By type, the board carries 10 connectors, 7 resistors, 4 capacitors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

RFID based physical access control system

A door-access controller for ESP32 boards. Tap an enrolled RFID card to release a door strike; everything else is denied. Built around a small set of reusable libraries (WiFi provisioning, OLED display, splash screen) so the same codebase drops onto multiple doors and multiple ESP32 variants with only a build-flag change.

Status indication is on-device and over the network: a 0.96" OLED shows the current state, an RGB LED gives an at-a-glance verdict, an active buzzer gives audible feedback, and a built-in web server exposes status and over-the-air firmware updates.

RFID Access: common questions

What microcontroller does the RFID Access use?

The RFID Access is built around the XIAO-ESP32-C6-DIP, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the RFID Access PCB?

The RFID Access measures 110 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the RFID Access?

29 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RFID Access design files?

From the JONeillSr/RFID_Access repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RFID Access design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which JONeillSr chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the RFID Access without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
