About the Mobiflight gns530 PCB

Mobiflight gns530 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by JorgHendriks, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 154.8 × 112.3 mm, with 76 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the 74HC165. By type, the board carries 38 resistors, 14 LEDs, 14 diodes, 2 transistors, 1 IC and 1 module.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

A DIY Garmin GNS 530-inspired panel for flight simulation, powered by MobiFlight.

The ready-to-order fabrication archive is GNS530v11pcbfab.zip. Use a standard board thickness of 1.6 mm.

The local symbol and footprint libraries are referenced through ${KIPRJMOD}.

Use 6 x 6 x 7.2 mm, six-pin illuminated tactile switches. Four pins form the duplicated switch contacts; the remaining two connect the LED.

The small square PCB pad is ground and connects to the negative LED terminal.

Mobiflight gns530: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mobiflight gns530 use?

The Mobiflight gns530 is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Mobiflight gns530 PCB?

The Mobiflight gns530 measures 154.8 × 112.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mobiflight gns530?

76 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mobiflight gns530 design files?

From the JorgHendriks/mobiflight-gns530 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mobiflight gns530 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with JorgHendriks. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Mobiflight gns530 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
