From the project

The hardware for the Raspberry Pi Zero power over Ethernet devices

The Raspberry Pi Zero is a low power and low footprint Raspberry Pi. It gives people an opportunity to move towards compact connected devices while moving away from being a just a small computer. PiPoE adds a new way of connecting the Raspberry Pi Zero with the world in a very efficient manner. Power over Ethernet is a way if injecting power into an Ethernet cable without interfering with the data. What it gives you is a high reliability way of powering and communicating with the Raspberry Pi. The design of PoEPi is open source under the CERN OHL V1.2 and can be easily adapted to your own…

PoEPi hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the PoEPi hardware use?

The PoEPi hardware is built around the Raspberry_Pi_+_Conn, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the PoEPi hardware PCB?

The PoEPi hardware measures 93.8 × 30 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PoEPi hardware?

81 components, from 58 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PoEPi hardware design files?

From the julien8/PoEPi-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PoEPi hardware design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with julien8. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the PoEPi hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
