About the SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 PCB

SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by KaburaJ, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 61 × 57.8 mm, with 26 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328-P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the RFM69HW, L7805 and HT12D. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 diodes, 3 capacitors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the rf & radio and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repository contains the workflow of a dynamic speed governor. Designed to change as per a location's speed limit, this dynamic speed governor is highly applicable in school zones, hospitals and black spots among others.

This is a small PCB sub-assembly capable of transmitting and modulating a radio wave to carry data.

Converts parallel inputs into serial output. It encodes the 12 bit parallel data into serial for transmission through an RF transmitter. These 12 bit are divided into 8 address bit and 4 data bits.

It is a simple switch mechanism to control the speed limits aspects of the project. The comprise of the 20, 40, 60 and 80 km/hr speed limits.

SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1: common questions

What microcontroller does the SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 use?

The SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 is built around the ATmega328-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 PCB?

The SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 measures 61 × 57.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1?

26 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 design files?

From the KaburaJ/Dynamic-Speed-Governor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with KaburaJ. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SPEED GOVERNOR TRIAL 1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
