About the Merch board

Merch board is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by kaine119, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 86 × 54 mm, with 83 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117-3.3_SOT223, W25Q128JVS, PCM5100A, TPA6211A1DGN and CY8CMBR3116. By type, the board carries 32 capacitors, 31 resistors, 6 ICs, 5 switches, 5 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

audio-test-board consist of an I2S DAC, connected to a headphone and speaker amp.

DAC: Texas Instruments PCM5100A I2S DAC. This feeds both the headphone and the speaker amp Headphone amp: TI TPA6139A2RGTR, Speaker amp: TI TPA6211A1DGN * Headphone jack: generic 3.5mm TRRS jack with normally-closed contacts on Tip and R1

touch-test-board breaks out an Infineon CY8CMBR3116 16-way capacitive touch sensing controller into a I2C interface, and 16 touch pads. Manufacture with ENIG for best results =)

Merch board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Merch board use?

The Merch board is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Merch board?

The Merch board measures 86 × 54 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the Merch board?

83 components, from 35 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Merch board design files?

From the kaine119/artsfest-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Merch board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which kaine119 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Merch board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
