From the project

KiCad PCB design for an ESP32-based single-phase energy meter (ATM90E26 metering AFE) — DRC/ERC-clean, SPICE-validated, fab-ready

A KiCad hardware design for a single-phase (230 V / 50 Hz) electricity meter, built around an ESP32 for connectivity/logic and a dedicated metering AFE for accurate energy measurement.

The design was run through DRC, ERC, and SPICE-level validation before fab:

- DRC: 0 violations, 0 unconnected nets (KiCad 9 kicad-cli pcb drc) - ERC: 0 violations - SPICE (ngspice): 10/11 subcircuits pass, 1 benign warning — confirmed correct 3.3 V regulation, filter cutoff frequencies, power-on reset timing, and decoupling impedance across the board - Cross-domain / EMC / thermal analysis run for additional…

Esp32-energy meter: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp32-energy meter use?

The Esp32-energy meter is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E-N8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Esp32-energy meter PCB?

The Esp32-energy meter measures 160 × 110 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp32-energy meter?

76 components, from 42 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp32-energy meter design files?

From the kbssrikar7/esp32-energy-meter-pcb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp32-energy meter design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kbssrikar7. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Esp32-energy meter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
