About the Neurodots PCB

Neurodots is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ki-manufaktur, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 91.5 × 71.5 mm, with 72 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117-3.3_SOT223 and W25Q128JVS. By type, the board carries 32 diodes, 17 capacitors, 9 switches, 8 resistors, 3 ICs and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Neurodots is an electronic version of the color dot puzzle, utilizing a WS2812 RGB maze. The dots are shifted horizontally or vertically using switches on the sides of the maze to guide the dots into the solution configuration.

Neurodots: common questions

What microcontroller does the Neurodots use?

The Neurodots is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Neurodots PCB?

The Neurodots measures 91.5 × 71.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.29 mm thick.

How many components are on the Neurodots?

72 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Neurodots design files?

From the ki-manufaktur/neurodots repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Neurodots design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ki-manufaktur. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Neurodots without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
