About the Imu daq PCB

Imu daq is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by klimemam, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 42 × 50 mm, with 47 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the ICM-42688-P, W25Q128JVSIQ, AP2112K-3.3 and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 22 capacitors, 10 resistors, 5 ICs, 3 connectors, 2 switches and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

A compact USB-C IMU acquisition board built around the TDK InvenSense ICM-42688-P (high-precision 6-axis MEMS accel + gyro) and an RP2040 microcontroller that streams samples to a PC over USB Type-C as a virtual serial port.

A compact USB-C IMU acquisition board built around the TDK InvenSense ICM-42688-P (high-precision 6-axis MEMS accel + gyro) and an RP2040 microcontroller that streams samples to a PC over USB Type-C as a virtual serial port.

The raw IMU bus (SPI and I²C, jumper-selectable) is also broken out on a 0.1" header so the sensor can be wired directly to another host (Arduino / Raspberry Pi / ESP32) instead of using the on-board RP2040.

Imu daq: common questions

What microcontroller does the Imu daq use?

The Imu daq is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Imu daq PCB?

The Imu daq measures 42 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Imu daq?

47 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Imu daq design files?

From the klimemam/aiproto_imu repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Imu daq design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with klimemam. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Imu daq without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
