About the 1002 EPROM EMU NG PCB

1002 EPROM EMU NG is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Kris-Sekula, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.1 × 88.9 mm, with 36 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the 1050-1001, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74HC00, 74HC08, 25LC512-I/P, 296-36142-5 and 1450-1033. By type, the board carries 11 ICs, 9 resistors, 7 capacitors, 3 diodes, 2 transistors and 1 module.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

EPROM Emulator Project with Arduino

Version 2.2: Reshuffled component designations for pcb v1.9c and 2.2c to keep them in sync - help to keep the BoM alligned... only delta is the SRAM

Version 2.1: Moved from using 2x 32k SRAM to single 128k SRAM (64k usable). Firware and software is the same for both.

Version 1.9: Added pull-up resistors to /WE and EN_RST, helps prevent SRAM corruption during Arduino reset (needed only when doing partial uploads)

1002 EPROM EMU NG: common questions

What microcontroller does the 1002 EPROM EMU NG use?

The 1002 EPROM EMU NG is built around the 1050-1001, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the 1002 EPROM EMU NG PCB?

The 1002 EPROM EMU NG measures 99.1 × 88.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 1002 EPROM EMU NG?

36 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 1002 EPROM EMU NG design files?

From the Kris-Sekula/EPROM-EMU-NG repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 1002 EPROM EMU NG design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which Kris-Sekula chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the 1002 EPROM EMU NG without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
