About the NetToBOM PCB

NetToBOM is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Len42, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 58 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the L78L05_TO92, MCP4822, MCP4821 and TL074. By type, the board carries 20 resistors, 13 capacitors, 8 connectors, 5 ICs, 5 diodes and 3 switches.

KiCad BOM plug-in

This is my KiCad BOM plug-in. There are many like it but this one is mine. It creates a bill-of-materials file from a KiCad EDA schematic.

Input: Netlist file in XML format (produced by KiCad automatically by the "Generate Bill of Materials" command)

Output: Bill of materials file in CSV format (comma-separated values)

Usage: nettobom [-h] [-o outfile] [infile] -h Include a header section with info about the schematic. -o outfile Write output to the given file; otherwise, write to the console. infile Read input from the given file; otherwise, read from standard input.

NetToBOM: common questions

What microcontroller does the NetToBOM use?

The NetToBOM is built around the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the NetToBOM?

58 components, from 35 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the NetToBOM design files?

From the Len42/NetToBOM repository on GitHub, which has a netlist; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the NetToBOM design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Len42 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the NetToBOM without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
