About the Laserharp PCB
Laserharp is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Leonrts, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board, with 4 components from 4 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MCP4922-E/SL.
It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.
From the project
Creating a Module that can be connected to any RGB Laser Show Projector via the ILDA Standard to use it as a laserharp. Configuration works via a Webinterface that is hosted locally on the esp32 and can be accessed via the esp32s access point and captive Portal.
This project implements a frameless Laser Harp controller using the ESP32-S3. It drives an ILDA-compliant laser projector and detects hand interruptions using a photodiode, generating MIDI notes over Bluetooth LE.
Navigate to Laser Harp Configuration** to enable Simulation Mode or change WiFi settings. 3. Build:
1. Open hardware/laserharp.kicadpro in KiCad 7.0+. 2. Open the PCB Editor (.kicadpcb). 3. Route the Board: You must manually draw the copper tracks connecting the components. Follow the "Ratsnest" (thin lines indicating connections). Analog Path: Keep lines from DACs to OpAmps…

Laserharp: common questions
What microcontroller does the Laserharp use?
The Laserharp is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Laserharp PCB?
The Laserharp has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Laserharp?
4 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Laserharp design files?
From the Leonrts/Laserharp repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Laserharp design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Leonrts. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Laserharp without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
