About the 6502-Retro! PCB

6502-Retro! is an open source PCB design by linuxplayground, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 35 components from 20 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 62256 SRAM, 28C256 ROM, 6551 ACIA, W65C02SxP and AT22V10Q. By type, the board carries 11 capacitors, 8 resistors, 7 ICs, 5 connectors, 2 crystals and 1 switch.

It belongs with the retro computing and keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A 6502 Backplane design.

Inspired by the Z80-Retro! see: https://github.com/z80-retro I decided to see if I could put together a small 6502 based project with a similar design philosphy. The main goals of the project are:

1. The base board must be no larger than 100mm x 100mm to leverage the cheaper manufacturing options. 2. The base board must provide all required functionality to be minimially operational. 3. Daughter boards will provide additional peripherals such as Graphics and Audio
