About the Tia fpga PCB

Tia fpga is an open source PCB design by lrrosa, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 61.6 × 34.5 mm, with 24 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74AHCT125, 74LVC245A, 74LVC541A, 74LVC1G32 and 74LVC2G07. By type, the board carries 10 capacitors, 9 ICs, 4 connectors and 1 diode.

From the project

FPGA replacement for the Atari 2600 TIA (C010444) video/sound chip, targeting a Sipeed Tang Nano 9K. Open hardware, CERN-OHL-S-2.0.

An FPGA replacement for the Television Interface Adaptor (TIA) — the custom C010444 / C010444D (NTSC) video and sound chip of the Atari 2600.

Revision B is the digital interface board between a Sipeed Tang Nano 9K module and the TIA's DIP-40 socket, for use with a real 6507 (on a breadboard or in an actual 2600). Revision A, the first study, was never built.

61.6 × 34.54 mm, two layers. Every row lands on the 2.54 mm grid — the DIP-40's 15.24 mm and the Tang Nano's 22.86 mm — and the board is a little shorter than the module it carries, as it has to be: in a real 2600 the TIA, the 6507 and…

Tia fpga: common questions

How big is the Tia fpga PCB?

The Tia fpga measures 61.6 × 34.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tia fpga?

24 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tia fpga design files?

From the lrrosa/tia-fpga repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tia fpga design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which lrrosa chose for the repository.
