About the IoT-temp based fan speed controller PCB

IoT-temp based fan speed controller is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by LudoProvost, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 52 × 56 mm, with 10 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the NodeMCU1.0(ESP-12E), from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the LM340, FAN12V and DS18B20. By type, the board carries 4 ICs, 2 capacitors, 2 resistors and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the sensors and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Using the ESP8266 NodeMCU for data processing and Blynk app for data obversation, a temperature sensor is used to control the speed of a 12V fan.

IoT-temp based fan speed controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the IoT-temp based fan speed controller use?

The IoT-temp based fan speed controller is built around the NodeMCU1.0(ESP-12E), from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the IoT-temp based fan speed controller PCB?

The IoT-temp based fan speed controller measures 52 × 56 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the IoT-temp based fan speed controller?

10 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the IoT-temp based fan speed controller design files?

From the LudoProvost/IoT-temp-based-fan-speed-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the IoT-temp based fan speed controller design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with LudoProvost. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the IoT-temp based fan speed controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
