About the Juk2 PCB

Juk2 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by lysolaka, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 90 × 100 mm, with 64 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, CH340N and DRV8825 Module. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 18 connectors, 18 resistors, 7 ICs and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

A CNC plotter (or maybe more) firmware written in Rust.

JUK2 is a CNC plotter firmware for the ESP32-S3 on a custom PCB and plotter frame.

JUK2 is the successor of JUK - a private, messy and ugly project. The project's second version is supposed to be everything the first one was not able to be.

See the file REFERENCE.md for usage information.

The custom design can be found under the juk-pcb directory. It also has a schematic and a STEP model available for those, who don't have KiCad installed.

Juk2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Juk2 use?

The Juk2 is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Juk2 PCB?

The Juk2 measures 90 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Juk2?

64 components, from 33 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Juk2 design files?

From the lysolaka/juk2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Juk2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which lysolaka chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Juk2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
