About the PCBmain PCB

PCBmain is an open source ESP32 PCB design by MagnusLab, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 112 × 48.8 mm, with 63 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32_M103QH3200PH3Q0_, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the CP2102, NCP1117ST33T3G, TMC2208-LA-T, PAM2804AAB010 and TMP117AIDRVT. By type, the board carries 23 resistors, 16 capacitors, 7 ICs, 6 connectors, 4 transistors and 3 diodes.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

An open, portable and low cost qPCR machine.

This machine is a work in progress, so the specifications may change and/or be innacurate. Also, don't try to replicate it if you don't know what you're doing, as it probably won't work until we release a stable version.

The main PCB, containing the microcontroller and the heater; The PCB of the reading head, containing LEDs and light sensors; * The optical reading head, which will house lenses, beam splitters, filters, prisms, etc., as well as the stepper motor responsible for positioning this optical assembly above each tube;

PCBmain: common questions

What microcontroller does the PCBmain use?

The PCBmain is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32_M103QH3200PH3Q0_, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PCBmain PCB?

The PCBmain measures 112 × 48.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PCBmain?

63 components, from 33 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PCBmain design files?

From the MagnusLab/Magnus-qPCR repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PCBmain design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which MagnusLab chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PCBmain without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
