From the project

PCB + firmware for Pokewalker-like device

Thsi repo contains all the designs, schematics, pcb layouts and code for the picowalker-32 project.

The picowalker-32 is a modern, open source and faithful recreation of the Pokewalker from Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver. The goal is to have a device that fully mimics the features and functionality of a Pokewalker, except made with modern features such as a rechargeable battery, colour screen and an additional flash memory chip to store more data.

Picowalker-32: common questions

What microcontroller does the Picowalker-32 use?

The Picowalker-32 is built around the STM32U535CET6-modified, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Picowalker-32 PCB?

The Picowalker-32 measures 44.1 × 51 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Picowalker-32?

50 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Picowalker-32 design files?

From the mamba2410/picowalker-32 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Picowalker-32 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mamba2410. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Picowalker-32 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
