From the project

This repository is a draft reverse engineering project dedicated to the TACX NEO SMART trainer. It serves as an open-source documentation effort to map out the hardware internals of this smart trainer.

Welcome to the tacxneoreveng repository. This project serves as a collaborative workspace for the reverse engineering** of the TACX NEO SMART trainer's internal electronics.

This is currently a work-in-progress and should be considered a draft. The primary goal is to document the hardware architecture to better understand the trainer's power management and communication protocols.

Tacx neo rev eng: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tacx neo rev eng use?

The Tacx neo rev eng is built around the nRF51x22-QFxx, from the Nordic nRF family.

How many components are on the Tacx neo rev eng?

106 components, from 45 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tacx neo rev eng design files?

From the massmog/tacx_neo_rev_eng repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tacx neo rev eng design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with massmog. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Tacx neo rev eng without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
