Nrf9151-modbus is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by mathijsmeulendijks, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 86 × 56 mm, with 95 components from 47 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the nRF9151-LACA-R, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the INA180A1IDBVR, MCP6001UT-I_OT, LM66100DCKR, TLV1117-33CDCYR and APX803L-29SA-7. By type, the board carries 40 capacitors, 22 resistors, 12 ICs, 10 diodes, 6 connectors and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

DIN-rail board (3D-printed 2-module housing, TS35): 85-264 VAC (Mean Well IRM-10-5) -> discrete CC supercap charger hold-up (0.1 ohm + INA180A1 + MCP6001 + AO4407A) -> nRF9151 cellular/GNSS with RS-485 + RS-232 + CAN on one RJ45.

Native KiCad 10 project. Schematic is the source of truth for circuits; the PCB is fully placed but unrouted (routing is done by the board designer). The PCB stands vertical in a DIN 43880 housing (2 modules, 36 mm wide).

Nrf9151-modbus: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nrf9151-modbus use?

The Nrf9151-modbus is built around the nRF9151-LACA-R, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Nrf9151-modbus PCB?

The Nrf9151-modbus measures 86 × 56 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nrf9151-modbus?

95 components, from 47 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nrf9151-modbus design files?

From the mathijsmeulendijks/nrf9151-modbus repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nrf9151-modbus design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mathijsmeulendijks. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Nrf9151-modbus without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
