About the Weather station-Main board

Weather station-Main board is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Matyas604, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 50.2 mm, with 22 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 6 connectors, 6 capacitors, 6 resistors, 2 ICs and 2 switches.

It belongs with the sensors and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A weather station that sends data via Wi-Fi to Home Assistant. It uses an ESP-32 and ESPHome code. It measures temperature, humidity, pressure, air quality, wind speed, lightning distance and energy, and whether it is raining.

This project was more about 3D modeling than PCB design, but in the end, I’m very satisfied.

⚠️The screw and nuts for the anemometer and the rods for the radiation shield must be made of brass, because brass is non-magnetic and therefore will not interfere with the lightning detection antenna, unlike iron or steel!

Weather station-Main board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Weather station-Main board use?

The Weather station-Main board is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Weather station-Main board?

The Weather station-Main board measures 70 × 50.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Weather station-Main board?

22 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Weather station-Main board design files?

From the Matyas604/Ultimate-weather-station repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Weather station-Main board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which Matyas604 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Weather station-Main board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
