About the Sensor PCB

Sensor is an open source PCB design by micthiesen, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 18 × 64 mm, with 14 components from 14 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the FDC1004DGSR, TPS7A2433DBVR and ESDS312DBVR. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 4 capacitors, 3 ICs and 1 diode.

It belongs with the sensors and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Aquarium skimmer controller: capacitive sensing, ESP32-C6 firmware, and separated mains switching

Open sensor.kicadpro. The compact sensor is 18 × 64 mm, four layers**, with 16 footprints and zero unrouted connections. Mount its mask-covered glass face with thin adhesive film, top 2 mm below the rim. J1 is six outward-face solder pads; the pigtail exits left when looking at the electronics. No component lead or mount sits between electrode copper and glass.

Sensor: common questions

How big is the Sensor PCB?

The Sensor measures 18 × 64 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sensor?

14 components, from 14 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sensor design files?

From the micthiesen/crystal-shim repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sensor design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with micthiesen. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
