About the Feather eyespi PCB

Feather eyespi is an open source ESP32 PCB design by mikeysklar, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50.8 × 27.1 mm, with 4 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the HEADER-1X16ROUND, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 2 jumpers, 1 connector and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the displays & leds and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

KiCad PCB design adding an EyeSPI display connector to an Adafruit Feather board

A plus-size FeatherWing base board that accepts an Adafruit Feather and breaks out an EYESPI connector for eInk and TFT displays.

Working with a lot of eInk and TFT displays means constantly re-wiring the EYESPI cable. This adapter cuts out that step — plug the Feather in, plug the display in, done. Single-sided board with minimal routing to keep assembly straightforward.

Feather eyespi: common questions

What microcontroller does the Feather eyespi use?

The Feather eyespi is built around the HEADER-1X16ROUND, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Feather eyespi PCB?

The Feather eyespi measures 50.8 × 27.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Feather eyespi?

4 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Feather eyespi design files?

From the mikeysklar/feather-eyespi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Feather eyespi design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which mikeysklar chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Feather eyespi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
