About the Building blocks PCB

Building blocks is an open source PCB design by mirdej, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99 × 70.7 mm, with 162 components from 48 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LM393, TLV3201, NE5532, C3113 and LMH6643. By type, the board carries 50 resistors, 35 connectors, 30 capacitors, 17 test points, 11 ICs and 9 diodes.

From the project

The Synkie is a modular open source analog video processor, developed by Michael Egger, Max Egger and Flo Kaufmann

The Synkie is a modular open source analog video processor, developed by Michael Egger, Max Egger and Flo Kaufmann. A bit like the venerable modular Moog synthesizer it lets you toy around with the signal using patch cables – but this time not producing sound but images. It is an instrument for video, a playground, a platform to explore new ways to transform a video signal. Synkie is still in development, we constantly develop new modules – and even the base specifications may still change over time.

Building blocks: common questions

How big is the Building blocks PCB?

The Building blocks measures 99 × 70.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Building blocks?

162 components, from 48 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Building blocks design files?

From the mirdej/synkie repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Building blocks design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mirdej. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
