About the Testy parts PCB

Testy parts is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by mmalex, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 39.6 × 62.5 mm, with 56 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the BQ24075RGTR, AP2112K-3.3TRG1, W25Q16JVUXIQ, C160403 and LIS2DW12TR. By type, the board carries 24 capacitors, 11 resistors, 7 ICs, 4 LEDs, 3 connectors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the power & battery, keyboards and audio designs in this gallery.

from a livestream with wookash on Friday 2026-01-16

small Raspberry Pi RP2040 'demo' project, with 4 choc-switch buttons, rgb leds, a TFT screen, captouch around the bezel, an SWD programming header, lipo battery connection, and speaker connections.

Mostly untested - planning to order shortly to see if it works.

See notes.txt for JLC part numbers used during the stream, and a few links.

Testy parts: common questions

What microcontroller does the Testy parts use?

The Testy parts is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Testy parts PCB?

The Testy parts measures 39.6 × 62.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Testy parts?

56 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Testy parts design files?

From the mmalex/wookash_thing repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Testy parts design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which mmalex chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Testy parts without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
