About the Esp32-led matrix PCB

Esp32-led matrix is an open source ESP32 PCB design by n2048-creative-technology, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 58.1 × 41.8 mm, with 147 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1-N8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6-FS and AMS1117-3.3(TO-252). By type, the board carries 130 diodes, 6 capacitors, 5 resistors, 3 ICs, 2 connectors and 1 switch.

It belongs with the displays & leds and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

double sided 8x8 addressable led matrix with integrated esp32-c3 module

Double-sided 8x8 WS2812B LED matrix board driven by an ESP32-C6-WROOM-1, powered over USB-C. This design merges the MCU/power subsystem from esp32-ce-led with the LED-matrix/JST-PH-connector pattern from xiao-led-module-, extended to a double-sided 8x8 array (128 total LEDs, two independent 64-LED daisy chains on GPIO6/GPIO7 — one per board side).

Component numbering is intentional: D1 and D4 are reused from the MCU/power subsystem (status LED, ESD diode); D10 through D137 are the 128 matrix LEDs. The gap (D2/D3, D5–D9) is not a bug.

Esp32-led matrix: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp32-led matrix use?

The Esp32-led matrix is built around the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1-N8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Esp32-led matrix PCB?

The Esp32-led matrix measures 58.1 × 41.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp32-led matrix?

147 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp32-led matrix design files?

From the n2048-creative-technology/esp32-led-matrix repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp32-led matrix design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with n2048-creative-technology. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Esp32-led matrix without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
