Hardware files for ODR-1 Radio

This is the hardware repository for the ODR-1 (Open Design Radio - 1) which is a stand-alone "Firmware" defined QRP transceiver. The design goal for the radio is to cover from 1.8MHz (160 meters) up to 50 MHz (6 meters) though it may be able to cover up to 70MHz (4 meters).

The ODR-1 radio consists of the following circuit boards:

1) Display Board 2) Processor Board 3) Oscillator & Mixer Board 4) Amp and tuner board (not released, under design)

The KiCad project lives in the N7IFC/ODR-1_Hardware repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD: common questions

What microcontroller does the ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD use?

The ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD is built around the DSPIC33EP512MU810-I/PF, from the PIC family.

How big is the ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD?

The ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD measures 158.5 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD?

238 components, from 58 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD design files?

From the N7IFC/ODR-1_Hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with N7IFC. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ODR-1 PROCESSOR BOARD without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
