About the CJ4-Autopilot PCB

CJ4-Autopilot is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by neilenns, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 317.5 × 57.2 mm, with 70 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the TLC5917IN, AMS1117-3.3, 74HC165 and W25Q128JVS. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 16 switches, 11 resistors, 7 ICs, 7 connectors and 1 crystal.

This repository provides a ready-to-go CI/CD workflow for KiCad 6 with GitHub actions. Using KiCad5? See my other repo.

1. Integration with GitHub releases to automatically produce documentation and fabrication files on every GitHub release, including automatic date and version stamping of schematics and PCBs. 2. KiBot preflighting on every pull request (ERC/DRC checks disabled by default). 3. VSCode dev container and default build task for easy local testing of KiBot scripts.

CJ4-Autopilot: common questions

What microcontroller does the CJ4-Autopilot use?

The CJ4-Autopilot is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the CJ4-Autopilot PCB?

The CJ4-Autopilot measures 317.5 × 57.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CJ4-Autopilot?

70 components, from 42 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CJ4-Autopilot design files?

From the neilenns/CJ4-Autopilot repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CJ4-Autopilot design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which neilenns chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the CJ4-Autopilot without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
