About the Generic radio stack PCB

Generic radio stack is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by neilenns, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 225 × 108.1 mm, with 107 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117-3.3_SOT223, MAX7219, 6_digit_7_segment_display_1, 5_digit_7_segment_display and LSF0204PWR. By type, the board carries 38 resistors, 32 capacitors, 20 ICs, 5 diodes, 4 switches and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

This repository provides a ready-to-go CI/CD workflow for KiCad with GitHub actions.

1. Integration with GitHub releases to automatically produce documentation and fabrication files on every GitHub release, including automatic date and version stamping of schematics and PCBs. 2. KiBot preflighting on every pull request (ERC/DRC checks disabled by default). 3. VSCode dev container and default build task for easy local testing of KiBot scripts.

Generic radio stack: common questions

What microcontroller does the Generic radio stack use?

The Generic radio stack is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Generic radio stack PCB?

The Generic radio stack measures 225 × 108.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Generic radio stack?

107 components, from 25 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Generic radio stack design files?

From the neilenns/Generic-radio-stack repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Generic radio stack design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which neilenns chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Generic radio stack without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
