About the Rat PCB

Rat is an open source PCB design by Network-Direction, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 46.7 × 37.7 mm, with 37 components from 28 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the OP07CP. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 13 resistors, 3 connectors, 3 diodes, 1 IC and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

The RAT is made of four main stages: Power Supply Input/Clipping Tone Control Output

The power supply is simple, providing both +9v and +4.5v. 9 volts to power the opamp and the transistor, and 4.5v to bias the input signal.

Rat: common questions

How big is the Rat PCB?

The Rat measures 46.7 × 37.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rat?

37 components, from 28 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rat design files?

From the Network-Direction/Audio-Effect-Pedals repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rat design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Network-Direction. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
