From the project
A ESP32 based interface between CAN-bus and IoT environments.
- Architecture - Implementation - CAN/OBD-II Switching - Components - Version 1.0 - Version 1.1
This deviced is based on the ESP32-WROOM-32E processor, which has a diverse number of interfaces such as digital and analog inputs and output, as well as an integrated CAN bus controller and WiFi capabilities, between many other characteristics. The ESP32 additionally needs a CAN Transceiver to receive the data from the CAN-H and CAN-L lines.

Esp32-can iot: common questions
What microcontroller does the Esp32-can iot use?
The Esp32-can iot is built around the ESP32-DEVKITC-32D, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Esp32-can iot PCB?
The Esp32-can iot measures 87.5 × 70 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Esp32-can iot?
63 components, from 36 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Esp32-can iot design files?
From the NewTec-GmbH/esp32-can-iot repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Esp32-can iot design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its BSD-3-Clause license, which NewTec-GmbH chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Esp32-can iot without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
