About the PDB2 PCB

PDB2 is an open source PCB design by nimaakbari2006, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 40 mm, with 31 components from 17 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MP2307DN-LF-Z. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 8 resistors, 3 connectors, 2 ICs, 2 inductors and 1 diode.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Custom power distribution board and STM32F405 flight controller PCBs designed in KiCad for a 5-inch FPV drone. Dual synchronous buck converters, ICM-42688-P gyro, 4-layer layout, Betaflight-compatible.

Two custom PCBs designed from scratch in KiCad for a 5-inch FPV drone, plus complete component selection and compatibility validation for the full build. This project covers the full stack: switching power supply design, a Betaflight-compatible flight controller, and systems-level integration of the entire aircraft.

The goal was to replace the stock electronics of a 5-inch FPV drone with custom-designed hardware, as an electrical engineering portfolio project. Two boards were designed:

PDB2: common questions

How big is the PDB2 PCB?

The PDB2 measures 40 × 40 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PDB2?

31 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PDB2 design files?

From the nimaakbari2006/fpv-drone-flight-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PDB2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which nimaakbari2006 chose for the repository.
