About the MiniCO2 PCB

MiniCO2 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by nup002, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 13.6 × 19.4 mm, with 25 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C6-MINI-1/U, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LM3281, SCD40-D-R2 and SIT1552AI-JE-DCC-32.768D. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 diodes, 4 resistors, 2 switches and 1 connector.

It belongs with the sensors, iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A miniature USB CO2 sensor

The MiniCO2 is a miniature USB-powered CO2 sensor that can be used anywhere you need a simple indicator of CO2. Its built-in LEDs light up green, orange, or red, depending on the amount of CO2 in the air. The default levels can be adjusted via software to suit your needs.

The image above is of a prototype. The final version will have a USB-C connector and wireless connectivity.

MiniCO2: common questions

What microcontroller does the MiniCO2 use?

The MiniCO2 is built around the ESP32-C6-MINI-1/U, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the MiniCO2 PCB?

The MiniCO2 measures 13.6 × 19.4 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1 mm thick.

How many components are on the MiniCO2?

25 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MiniCO2 design files?

From the nup002/miniCO2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MiniCO2 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with nup002. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the MiniCO2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
