About the Ohs18badge PCB
Ohs18badge is an open source ESP32 PCB design by OSHPark, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 108 × 67.2 mm, with 53 components from 26 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the XC9141, KX122-1037 and Si7006-A20. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 10 resistors, 5 diodes, 4 ICs, 2 crystals and 2 connectors.
It belongs with the iot & wireless, wearables and displays & leds designs in this gallery.
From the project
Open Hardware Summit 2018 Badge
The current concept is to have: ESP32 microcontroller with WiFi and Bluetooth E-Paper to display the badge wearer's name * Use wireless communication (WiFi or BLE) to allow badge wearer to update the displayed text from an Android or iOS phone
Quantity 300 badges are required for OHS 2018 on September 27th.
Maximum total budget per badge is: $25 (that will have to include components, batteries, PCB, assembly, lanyard, packaging)

Ohs18badge: common questions
What microcontroller does the Ohs18badge use?
The Ohs18badge is built around the ESP32-WROOM, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Ohs18badge PCB?
The Ohs18badge measures 108 × 67.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Ohs18badge?
53 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Ohs18badge design files?
From the OSHPark/ohs18badge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Ohs18badge design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-1.2 license, which OSHPark chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Ohs18badge without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
