About the PMK Dongle PCB

PMK Dongle is an open source ESP32 PCB design by PumaFPV, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 10.4 × 18.3 mm, with 31 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S2FH4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MIC5528-3.3YMT-T5. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 4 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 switches, 1 crystal and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

PMK - Full wireless split keyboard

The goal is to make a suit of wireless devices such as "smart keyboard" (combined mouse and keyboard), gamepad, LEDs, knobs, display, etc The first step is to make a wireless split keyboard, and then we will see later...

Currently, you can connect up to 8 (software limited) devices per dongle, each of them having up to 8 (software limited) layers. Layers only affect keyboards and LED.

PMK Dongle: common questions

What microcontroller does the PMK Dongle use?

The PMK Dongle is built around the ESP32-S2FH4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PMK Dongle PCB?

The PMK Dongle measures 10.4 × 18.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.8012 mm thick.

How many components are on the PMK Dongle?

31 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PMK Dongle design files?

From the PumaFPV/PMK repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PMK Dongle design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which PumaFPV chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PMK Dongle without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
