About the Keeb PCB

Keeb is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by qubixal, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 345 × 120 mm, with 203 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the ER_OLEDM0.91_1x-I2C. By type, the board carries 85 switches, 85 diodes, 15 inductors, 15 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Keyboard for Hack Club KEEB

qbMX is a fully custom mechanical keyboard designed in KiCad and Fusion. It features:

- 85-key (79+6) layout with a rotary encoder, modelled after Apple's Magic Keyboard. - Cherry MX Low-Profile Red switches, and on-plate stabalisers (instead of on-pcb) - Uses the RP2040 microcontroller (Orpheus Pico) - A 0.91" 128x32 OLED display - 15 mini-LEDs at the top of the keyboard - Custom PCB, ordered and assembled by me

Keeb: common questions

What microcontroller does the Keeb use?

The Keeb is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Keeb PCB?

The Keeb measures 345 × 120 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keeb?

203 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keeb design files?

From the qubixal/qbMX repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keeb design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with qubixal. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Keeb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
